• Preparing and reviewing contracts as required by operations in the LED business in Malaysia, and also for manufacturing operations for the Company’s Sensor business in the APAC region (China, Phillipines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam) – and to work with other APAC counsels or external counsels where necessary for local law assistance.
• Reviewing the current contract landscape for Company’s external manufacturing elements and other supply chain partners, and appropriate risk analysis with regards to existing contract terms – and thereafter, proposing a structured and robust system to manage legal risks within ams Osram’s external manufacturing supplier ecosystem.
• Working closely with local Management at our Penang and Kulim factory locations (and in some cases for related manufacturing at our Wuxi factories in China), assisting in analysis on various legal matters and providing legal advice on Malaysian law to key local stakeholders (as applicable).
• Providing legal support for special or ad-hoc projects in Malaysia (for eg, M&A Projects, Factory projects).
• Any other tasks relevant to the above job scope as may be assigned to you by Head of Legal APAC from time to time.

What we look for

• Have a law degree from a reputable University, called to the Malaysia bar, minimum 8-9 years’ experience, ideally both in-house and in a legal practice. Experience in Corporate/Commercial practice, and/or supply chain operations in semicon industry is favoured.
• Be comfortable working directly with members of the business units, to provide practical and timely legal solutions and advice – in particular to work closely with legal counsel colleagues in Malaysia to support local business.
• Possess strong English language skills (written and spoken). A good command of Chinese would be useful.
• Be a proactive, hardworking, meticulous individual focused on meeting deadlines and work process management
• Be a highly analytical and strong rational thinker, able to spot potential issues ahead and present practical solutions that meet Management needs.
• Team player that can function with high degree of independence and pro-active responsibility, and to remain engaged in a high energy and versatile legal team that supports the entire ams business worldwide.
