Upstream Supplier Assessment and Qualification:
- Accountable on material supplier strategy for the responsible commodities; derive the strategies by working closely with the cross functional team - Procurement and R&D.
- Work with the Sourcing Team in maintainance of the approved and non approved suppliers throughout the supplier life cycle from scouting, selection, classification, qualification, monitoring till phase out.
- Negotiate the content of QAA / SQA and ensure QAA is duly signed by the suppliers prior to phase in.
Qualify Supplier Parts:
- Accountable for all the qualification of quality relevant materials during product development stage (Q projects) for Penang site.
- Deploy quality control concept and FMEA during material qualification for any new product (Q projects) to strengthen Line of Defense Level 0 from material perspective to minimise or eliminate quality spill during mass production.
- Actively participate in the pre development workshop on risk assessment such as DFMEA, DMPC / TRA, ORMAS to incorporate supplier & material lessons learnt into the project.
- Assessing the APQP of suppliers to ensure fulfilment and timely qualification of material to meet Q gate.
- Reviewing and approving First Article samples and PPAP documentation prior to upgrading the material status and release the parts for mass production.
- Set up Purchasing Specification requirement templates.
- Accountable to ensure adequacy and quality content of Purchase Specification content for each part that is being qualified.
- Work with supplier and project team to monitor and track changes or iteration of material revision from pre development till FAI to ensure transparency and tracebility; and ensure lessons learnt are incorporated and updated to FMEA documentations.
- Work with Project team (including PAC) to set up critical parameters monitoring in SAP Inspection Plan when material is upgraded to MS03.
Supplier Monitoring and Development:
- nitor and track supplier performance by working closely with site / local SQMs for quality data and input concerning incoming material performance (from Incoming to production and field).
- Analyse supplier situation and derive Supplier Development Program annually (and as and when needed).
- Innovative in supplier development & impactful on supplier management.
- Ensure all suppliers in Push program are alerted on their performance on a monthly basis; monitor Pull suppliers closely based on the selected pillars for improvement.
- Reach out and develop suppliers who are not in the Pull and Push Supplier Development Program (if any).
- In most cases (unless otherwise specified) being the Lead Auditor and work closely with Project team and LSQM team to define annual supplier audit plan and decide for audit based on need.
Leadership:
- Regularly exchange information with LSQM at Penang and Wuxi to ensure supplier material performance is relevant and reviewed regularly via CLAM.
- Key decision maker within SQM representing quality in all activities within the Sourcing Team / Committee according to Supplier Management as stipulated in Procurement document - Supplier Management.
- Ensure supplier database (Sphinx) is kept up to date to reflect supplier material current status (including holding LSQM accountability on datasbase maintenance throughout material life cycle).
- Driver Supplier Development activities via Pull and Push (ZTTD program) with suppliers to ensure continual improvement & henceforth reducing activities at IQC on incoming material.
- Consolidate global QM data / input for related commodity suppliers to deliver and present Q input in commodity sourcing strategy / CBG.
- Manage conflict and manage supplier relationship during crisis and escalation mode.
SQM e2e Processes maintenance:
- Ensure the content and tasks as stipulated in the Level 3 and 4 documentation are up to date and relevant.
- Coordinate within BU OS and CSA SQM community to align on the update of any documentation within the BIC.
What we look for
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Science discipline - Physics / Chemistry / Materials Science or Engineering / Electronics & Electrical Engineering / Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of working experience in manufacturing line; minimum 3 years of experience in QM, preferably SQM roles.
- Ability to lead and guide inspectors / technicians / Assistant & Associate Engineers; act as a change initiator; ability to influence CBG / Sourcing decision.
- Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with external suppliers; Influence and convince suppliers to change and improve.
- Technical knowledge in materials; Interpretation of technical drawing; Audit skill & basic quality tools such as FMEA, MSA, SPC; Strong in data analytics.
- Good computer skills such as Microsoft office; knowledge in Minitab & SAP is added advantage.
- Good verbal & written English (& In some cases Mandarin).
- Ability to communicate with various parties including overseas suppliers; sensitive to cultural differences; ability to handle conflicts and resolve differences in opinions with crucial conversational skills.
- High flexibility; able to travel; effective communication; compliance to company policy; highly committed & accountable with no supervision required; analytical, proactive and self motivated.
