- The Material Handler is responsible for supporting warehouse and production operations through accurate and efficient handling of materials. This role utilizes SAP to perform key inventory and logistics functions, including goods receiving, cycle counting, inventory movements and goods issuing, and shipping activities. The Material Handler ensures materials are properly tracked, stored, and delivered to the appropriate areas while maintaining compliance with established procedures and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in sustaining inventory accuracy, supporting production flow, and contributing to overall operational efficiency.
- Job Summary:
- Moving, storing, and handling all types of material within plant or warehouse as directed. Take inventories/participate in cycle counting and perform other miscellaneous duties such as periodic housekeeping, etc.
- Obtain materials using hand truck or other material handling equipment as applicable and pack and prepare/process shipments including any bundling, weighing, labeling, attaching packing lists, etc., for various carriers. Perform any special packaging for export shipments.
- Ship a variety of materials, equipment, and miscellaneous items to various destinations (domestic and export). Consign shipments in accordance with routings, carriers, and other information set forth in shipping orders whenever available; refer to shipping guides to obtain such information, as necessary. Check for proper quantities, types, markings, etc. Obtain proper shipping weights, prepare bills of lading and other required papers, and obtain proper signatures, as necessary.
- Record required information and any necessary changes on shipping orders. Check papers accompanying incoming shipments and indicate any discrepancies. Maintain required files and perform other associated clerical work.
- Receive, sign for, and check the physical condition of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, and/or other miscellaneous items entering plant. Check identity and verify quantities by comparison of package labels with vendor's shipping papers.
- Take full responsibility for the proper loading and unloading of trucks, safe condition of load, and correct count by type and quantity of material being transported. Maintain all required travel logs and clerical reports. Unload incoming shipping conveyances. Verify quantities, check physical condition, and sign for materials received as required. Segregate, move, and store items in proper locations. Issue raw materials as required.
- Assist procurement & supply chain management with MRO/ inventory topics and logistics tasks
- Waste/HAZ management
- Perform other related duties such as transporting loads, operating vehicles, sorting mixed pallets, taking inventories, conducting training, updating and writing standard operating procedures (SOPs), etc.
- Notify designated personnel of any irregularities in materials, process, equipment or environmental or safety infractions.
- Perform each phase of the operation in compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations as directed by management.
- Perform and assume responsibility for his/her work and service to assure it meets the internal and external customer requirements and expectations.
- Always maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned area(s) and observe company policies.
- Capable of performing physical activities that might involve one to stoop, crouch, bend at waist, and lift, up to 45lbs.

- Basic computer and data-entry skills
Preferred, but not required:
- 3+ years of experience
- Experience operating a forklift
- Experience with SAP or similar software
- Hazardous Waste training or certification
